My Curriculum vitae (abridged)
I hold a First Class degree in Social Studies from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, as well as MEd and PhD degrees in Educational Psychology from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. I have been a lecturer in the University of Ilorin since 1991 and was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 1995.
My research interests include “Academic Integrity" “Cognitive Styles” and “HIV/AIDS”. I am the author or co-author of many research papers in these and other areas. I also co-author of a couple of texts in Educational Psychology apart from contributing chapters in many edited books. I collaborated with the Dept of Psychology, University of Illinois, USA in an International study of subjective well-being in 1998; I was a visiting scholar to the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia (1999-2000); I coordinated two workshops organised by the Faculty of Education, University of Ilorin for newly recruited lecturers (2004 &2005); I was a member of the Association of African Universities (AAU) contingent to the International Conference on HIV/AIDS (ICASA), Abuja, Nigeria (2005); I was the Principal Investigator in the NEEDS assessment survey of HIV/AIDS awareness and prevalence among University of Ilorin students which culminated in the development of the University’s HIV/AIDS Policy with grant from the AAU ( 2006); and I also coordinated ‘HIV/AIDS inoculation’ initiative for students sponsored by, Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, a new private university in Nigeria for her first crop of students (2006).
I am currently, a major participant in an-ongoing training of academics on the integration of HIV/AIDS into existing curriculum in the Faculty of Education, in the University of Ilorin again with a grant from the AAU. I am an external examiner to the School of Education, Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin and Federal College of Education, Okene. I am also an internal examiner to the Dept of Educational Guidance and Counselling as well as the Dept. of Educational Management, University of Ilorin.
I am currently the Sub Dean, Student Affairs, Coordinator, Postgraduate Programs, Arts & Social Sciences Education Dept., Managing Editor, Nigerian Journal of Educational Foundations (NIJEF), Member of the University Essay Competition Committee, Member, Centre Point (University publications /Humanities), Member, University Web Patronage Committee, and Vice Chairperson, Unilorin Women Association Nursery & Primary school.
I am a member of several professional associations including the Nigerian Psychological Association (NPA), Nigerian Society of Educational Psychologists (NISEP), Centre for Academic Integrity (CAI), International AIDS Society (IAS), the National Association of Educational Researchers and Evaluators (NAERE) and the National Association of Women Academics (NAWACS). I am the first President of the National Association of Women Academics (NAWACS) Unilorin Chapter and a one- time Secretary General of the national body of NAWACS. I am the Initiator and President of the Organisation for Adolescent Transition Initiatives (ATI), Member Board of Trustees, Women Counselling Initiative (WCI) and Member Board of Trustees, Fabiyi Foundation (FF), all NGOs.
I sing Alto in the Choir, teach in the Sunday school, try some aerobics each morning and I am passionate about the emotional concerns of the youths, particularly girls.
